Ray has been a loyal customer & friend of ours for years. He picked up a 2007 Fatboy for a good price and, by the time he got to our shop, he knew exactly what he wanted done. Having owned a couple of nice Custom softails before this bike, he wanted this one to top the lot. We started with a 250 Wide Arse Heartland Kit - with the number plate and Tail light 'frenched' in & indicators in the Struts, this kit keeps the arse of the bike really clean. We also added Colorado Ryker wheels, disc's & pulley for a nice smooth rim which is easy to keep clean too. We fitted a Genuine HD Inverted Front end, which I think would be the best Front end on the market by far. To complete the look, we added a Long Boy guard with a couple of inches taken off so not to catch on anything. A billet headlight is always a nice touch & we chose to fit fork-indicators - you don't even notice them there until they are switched on. Ray got himself an Eddie Trotter exhaust which looks great, but you need to be careful, they do stick out a little and you've got to be careful not to dig these in or it will spit you off. They're also pretty loud and with the Bigger Cam ported heads Scotty fitted, it has nice bellow to it too. It's running a Arlen Ness Big Sucker air Cleaner that doesn't stand out to much. Once we got it rolling it was time for a little more fab-work. Ray wanted something different with the Bars. We were toying with some ideas and Jem knew what he was after so he made up a set of Bars out of 1-1/4 one off's. They turned out perfect - just what he wanted. With Chromed Genuine Switch Blocks, Ness Twist Grips & Tear Drop Mirrors with the Red Perl Paint they come up a trick. Jem also welded the gas caps in to the aftermarket tank for a smooth look. We didn't paint these, we decided to polish them instead and they came up pretty good. PM Contoured Forward Controls were fitted - always a nice touch. We fitted a little advertising in as well with a Timing cover looks a little better than a Sticker. Last but not least with Ray is his paint work - when it comes to paint Mark @ Sydney Custom has painted all Rays bike's. Before Ray left for Holidays he described to Mark what he wanted and, not seeing it laid out before, he left it all up to Mark. I must admit i was a little unsure, but he combined all past Paint Jobs into one, with a nice Perl Red and some beautiful Airbrush work. Notice the chequered flag pattern ghosted in and Rays little Badge he has put on all his Paint Work. This bike is one of his best yet - he might even keep this one for 5 minutes. Nice bike, a real pleasure to do to. Scotty did some nice Photo's too - he might have to go Professional. |
